How much does a water softener cost?
The price of a water softener can vary depending upon a lot of factors, such as the plumbing system in your home and how many people are in the household. Anyone that offers a one-off price without assessing the situation first will not be providing a thorough enough estimate or situation analysis. This could lead to further costs down the line in extra maintenance and plumbing work. It’s much better for a trained engineer to assess your situation so they can offer a bespoke price, specific to your home and your needs.
Although water softeners may seem expensive at first, it is an investment that helps you reduce bills and costs around your home, as well as benefiting your skin, hair, home cleanliness and more.
What affects the water softener price?
A domestic water softener price can vary greatly depending on various factors including:
- The size of the household
- The plumbing system currently in place
- The hardness of your existing water supply
It’s worth noting that the price of a water softener isn’t just in its original purchase. You will also need to consider:
- Any ongoing maintenance fees
- Upgrades and updates
- Water softener salt
The revolutionary Harvey Water Softener™ uses a twin cylinder design, meaning the system self-regenerates and requires no maintenance – meaning no maintenance fees! We also supply block salt direct from our factory here in Woking, which you can purchase at very reasonable prices.
Water softener installation costs
Your journey to softened water starts with the installation of the water softener.
The water softener itself is around the size of a computer tower. Typically, they fit under the kitchen sink, in the garage, on an outside wall or in the utility room, depending on your current plumbing set up. It plugs into the mains water supply. Specific requests may be accommodated, but may affect installation prices.
It takes roughly half a day of resource, however, we ensure our plumbers never rush the job as we don’t want them having to return to fix anything. The price of the unit, plumber’s fees, water usage charge and block salt price would all contribute to the water softener installation cost. As soon as it has been installed, the benefits can be seen within a few weeks and savings across your home can start to rack up in no time.
