Eczema and softened water
We chose to conduct this survey because we recognise how uncomfortable, inconvenient, painful and emotionally challenging eczema can be.
In a recent study by the University of Sheffield, a link was found between the water we use on our skin and the condition of it.
Results of the study, which were published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, showed that hard water breaks down the protective layer on the skin, leaving it susceptible to dryness and skin conditions like eczema.
Mum claims softened water cured her children's eczema
Manpreet has been using a Harvey Water Softener in her home with a view to treating her children's painful eczema.
The two eldest both began developing eczema a year after birth, it became severe and debilitating. Manpreet had tried all the different treatments, but she quickly saw improvements after having the water softener installed.
The family has had their water softener for six months now and in her words, “it’s changed their life”. Her children’s eczema hasn’t just got better, it’s gone completely.
Manpreet is one of many water softener users who found an improvement in skin conditions as a result of softened water.
