Can I use softened water with my Quooker boiling water tap?

Yes, you can use a Harvey water softener system with your Quooker (or other) hot water tap. Our technical director has verified that softened water from one of our units is fully compatible with Quooker installations.

According to the Quooker website, you can connect the Quooker to softened water as long as the water supplied to the Quooker is potable, within the limits of the UK drinking water regulations and there is a minimum water pressure of 2 bar (ideally 2.5 – 3 bar.) The pH value of the water should be between 6.5 and 9.5 with no excessive salt. If you prefer, you can connect the Quooker to the hard water supply and periodically service the Quooker system to control limescale.

Quooker is just one brand of boiling water tap. If you’re considering another type, it’s a good idea to check out what it says on their website about softened water for the boiling water tap. In our general experience, boiling water taps work well with softened water because it helps to avoid limescale build-up in the unit.

If you have a particular boiling water tap in mind and you have questions about how it can be compatible with a Harvey softener, get in touch. One of our experts will be happy to advise you or provide any information about softened water that your boiling water tap provider needs.

Our water softeners help you around the home in so many ways. Softened water can prevent limescale build-up in taps, pipes and appliances. Many people think it tastes better than hard water, and it’s much softer on skin. Request a quote.
