Our Company
Founded in 1978 by Harvey Bowden, Harvey Softeners initially set out to sell leading brand Permutit water softeners throughout England and Wales. In 1981 the company launched a customised twin cylinder, non-electric softener which was manufactured for Harvey Softeners by American company Kinetico Inc. The twin cylinder non-electric softener very quickly became the market leader and, together with Harvey’s Block Salt, revolutionised the softener industry in the UK.
In 2001 Harvey Softeners opened its UK manufacturing facility in Surrey, enabling the design and manufacture of a new softener developed here in the UK specifically for British homes. Harvey’s Block Salt Softener is the most efficient and reliable water softener available today and features our unique twin cylinder, duplex parallel design.
Through our research and development team here in Surrey, we are continuously looking for new ways to improve our products and offer our customers the best service possible. Our aim is to offer a personal service to each and every one of our customers through our retail department and our network of nationwide dealers.

Over the years the company has changed its name, initially from Surrey Softeners Ltd to Harvey Softeners Ltd in 1979 and then to Kinetico Ltd in 1987.
When we introduced our own UK manufactured products in 2001 we changed our name back to Harvey Softeners Limited and in 2010 we changed it to Harvey Water Softeners Ltd.
