How much water flows through the softener in between regenerations?
18 May 2020
Typically, we’ve measured that around 402 litres of water flows through the water softener between regenerations, though this does depend on the hardness of your source water supply.
Our measurements show that 17 litres of water are used in the regeneration process so installing a water softener will slightly increase your water use.
A Harvey water softener is a non-electric water softener which means it only regenerates when it needs to, avoiding salt and water wastage. In contrast, electric water softeners have an automatic timer where regeneration is activated whether the water softener needs to or not. We explain more about the differences here.
