How Does a Non-Electric Water Softener System Work?
Our Culligan Harvey non-electric water softeners wear two hats – it’s a water-softening superhero and a self-regenerator. Unlike a single-cylinder water softener that needs to take a breather to regenerate, our innovative twin-cylinder design works 24/7.
They use a process called “ion exchange” to remove calcium and magnesium minerals from your water supply, turning hard water into soft water. The special resin beads in our tanks contain sodium ions which attract those unwanted minerals, removing them from the water and making it soft.
When the resin beads become saturated, a regeneration process with a salt solution replenishes the sodium ions on the beads, allowing them to continue softening the water.
